Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Torver

The Terrace Coffee House and Restaurant

Coach House, East of Lake, Coniston LA21 8AD, UK – 015394 49025

Had lunch there in the sun on the terrace. best quiche ever!! And some of the best chips ever!! Lots of attention to detail, must be one of the best places around - Friendly staff too! :)

Beautiful location, excellent service. Was at friends' anniversary celebration - lovely venue

Sara's Indian

4 Yewdale Rd, Coniston LA21 8DU, UK – 015394 41912

BYOB and Cash only. If require halal, inquire when ordering. A nice little Indian restaurant with a touch of Bangladeshi cuisine. Every thing we ordered required a bit more salt. So wasn't exactly to our taste. We also had Sara's special in the starters, wasn't special at all. The kebab was quite chewy, chicken pakora was dry and meat tikka was a bit hard. Chilli pannir (another starter) wasn't that spicy and tasted ok. Plain naan was delicious and Butter chicken was nice. Chicken tikka biryani didn't have a taste of biryani at all. No desi dessert.

Nice place to eat. Very welcoming when our other plans fell through, due to weather change and fading sunlight. If you are heading here, bring your own bottle. (Shop across road sells all you could want to drink, alcoholic). Also only cash so bars near by will offer cash back from a debit card without purchase. Overall friendly and decent. If in area again would be hard not to go back.

Steam Bistro

Esk Villa, Tilberthwaite Avenue, Coniston LA21 8ED, UK – 015394 41928

I’m sure it’s a great place if you can get in. We arrived in the area on at the weekend to find it was not open until Wednesday evening. When we called on the Weds morning it was booked up over a week ahead. Surprising for a tourist area as people are not generally around that long. I suggest you call them on arrival in the area if you want to dine there, or maybe even before you start your holiday. We also discovered that you can call to book a table for Weds onwards early in the week even though it is closed. Maybe next time.

have been a few times now. Recommend booking in advance. Superb food and service. Not licensed, so you can take your own wine/ beer etc. Corkage charge per head. Highly recommended.
